crystalline galleries

The Russel Wright Design Center in Manitoga, NY, plans to expand their facilities with the addition of a 7,750 square-foot gallery to host the works of designer and sculptor Russel Wright.

The Design Center was built on the edge of a quarry, evoking themes of excavation and discovery. The geode, revealed through excavation, embodies the euphoric nature of discovery. The dull exterior of the geode encloses a magnificent interior which can only be revealed when the geode is split open.

The vision for the Crystalline Galleries is to become an architectural geode that explores the interplay between a seemingly mundane exterior and the extraordinary interiors hidden within.
